The month started with two slow-moving planets dragging up unfinished business. Yesterday, Pluto backtracked into Capricorn for its final walk-through (until Nov 19), and Uranus turned retrograde in Taurus. Tonight’s New Moon also nudges us back, highlighting the Jupiter-Saturn square I addressed in August.
The lingering Jupiter-Saturn square and the start of Eclipse Season are the biggest sky news right now.
Jupiter-Saturn Square
Jupiter in Gemini squared Saturn in Pisces at the August 19 Full Moon. The planets are separating now, with Jupiter marching forward and Saturn stepping backward, but that square is still close. The Moon (Sept 3) and the Sun (Sept 7-12) will tag Saturn and Jupiter, highlighting the tension between expansion and limitations, hope and fear, gain and loss.
Many people in my circle shared experiences that were archetypally Jupiter square Saturn, and I noticed it too. I enjoyed a wonderful vacation with friends on the Pacific coast of Mexico (Jupiter) while the air-conditioning system back home failed and needed an expensive repair (Saturn). This kind of tension will continue.
One step forward, two steps back.
Two steps forward, one step back.
It eases as the planets separate, but it will be back. Jupiter turns retrograde on Oct 9 and backs toward Saturn. Saturn goes forward Nov 15, moving closer to Jupiter. You can see this peak, decline, and peak on the image below. Their next exact square (peak) occurs on Christmas Eve.
(There will be a 3rd Jupiter-Saturn square in 2025, and that’s a BIG topic for a different day!)

Eclipse Season
Eclipse effects generally happen 30-90 days before or after the eclipse (some even longer), but the 4-6 week season is most intense. I am marking Eclipse Season from the Sept 2 New Moon to the Oct 17 Full Moon. This is time when there are likely to be sudden, dramatic turns in the world.
The Full Moon on Sept 17 is a partial Lunar Eclipse, and it will be visible in parts of North America. The Moon is close to Neptune at 26 Pisces while the Sun is at 26 Virgo. This one is likely to be sloppy and sleepy.

The next New Moon on October 2 will be an annular Solar Eclipse, not visible here. The Sunlight will be turned off by the Moon at 10 Libra. Eclipses in Libra often bring changes in social and relationship matters.
If the eclipse degrees (26 Pisces and 10 Libra) are relevant to your birth chart placements, you’ll be affected.

Week 1

The keywords that come to my mind are caution and flexibility. Today (Sept 2) is the New Moon with Mars square Neptune. Neptune dissolves boundaries and Mars penetrates, so it can be problematic for physical and psychological health but it’s useful for spiritual and creative endeavors.
Mars enters Cancer on Sept 4. Most of the time Mars moves through a sign in about 6 weeks, but it will retrograde this fall and spend 9 MONTHS in Cancer and Leo. This is a big deal transit if you have planets or angles from 17-29 degrees of cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) or from 0-6 degrees of fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius). I’d recommend booking a personalized consultation to sort out how it impacts you.
Over the weekend, Mercury squares Uranus (disruptive) for the third time and the Sun opposes Saturn (sobering).
Week 2
Mercury enters Virgo, fresh off retrograde. This can be helpful for any sort of organizational and analytical tasks. Rather than start new projects, the overall energy is more suitable for reviewing, cleaning and clearing, and tying up loose ends. Eclipse season is not a good time to make big changes, set intentions or have elective surgeries. Stay adaptable.
The Sun squares Jupiter on Sept 12, and that can be energizing and uplifting. On Sunday, Venus trines Jupiter, the best aspect of the month. This may be a productive and pleasant week, and I hope it is!
Week 3
Sleepy and sloppy! Tuesday, Sept 17 is the partial Lunar eclipse. On Sept 19-20 the Sun forms a trine to Uranus and opposes Neptune. Events may be surprising or confusing. Be patient—with yourself, others, and every darn thing. Rest.

Mercury squares Jupiter on Saturday and the Sun trines Pluto before moving into Libra on Sun, Sept 22. As the Sun enters Libra, Venus squares Pluto and moves on to Scorpio. Both Venus and the Sun are shifting into zodiac signs that are less supportive for their purposes of connection, pleasure, and clarity of purpose. (Groan.)
Week 4
Things are still sleepy and sloppy, but now social and relationship issues are arising. On Wed, Mercury opposes Neptune and trines Pluto. Mercury joins the Sun in Libra on Sept 26, and the rest of the week is primarily focused on the conjunction of Mercury, the Sun and the South Node. Watch for endings, losses, or the return of something from the past.
It may well be that what is ending now is something that has been wasting your energy or frustrating you for a while. Endings are a necessary part of life and make space for new beginnings. Wherever there is outflow, there is also inflow.
In uncertainty, there is freedom. Let the uncertainty be, and enjoy the freedom.
Golden Hours
All times are CST.
Sept 4, evening and all day Sept 5 The Libra Moon travels across the South Node and Venus to a trine with Jupiter. Clean out your closet and personal care items; toss or trade what you don’t want. It’s a friendly releasing energy.
Sept 14-15 The Moon in Aquarius is forming an airy grand trine with Venus and Jupiter as the Venus-Jupiter trine goes exact. This is a sweet spot for connection, pleasure, and intellectual exchanges. Any kind of cultural event might really nourish your soul, or you could indulge in more intimate, introverted settings. It’s more mind than body, though. Whatever you do, enjoy the weekend!
