February has been speeding by, and the pace will only accelerate. This newsletter will cover highlights and give you a preview of what’s ahead for Spring.

February Highlights

The New Moon takes place on Friday, Feb 9, at the 21st degree of Aquarius. Because it is the 2nd New Moon since the December Solstice, it is the Lunar New Year in many Eastern cultures. Welcome to the Year of the Dragon! Reader’s Digest has a fun overview of Chinese horoscopes.

In January, there was a cluster of planets in Capricorn. The planets move into Aquarius now, where the Sun holds court until Feb 18. Their first stop is a meeting with powerful Pluto at the 1st degree. Mercury crossed the threshold on Monday. Mars comes on Feb 14, and Venus follows on Feb 17.

That is a lot of heavy action in Aquarius, a sign of the Water Bearer. You may want to re-read the newsletter I wrote about Pluto’s impact in Aquarius to get a feel for topics stirring in the month, in your personal life and the collective.

Feb 11-17 features a Mars-Pluto Conjunction

Mars meets Pluto every two years, and that combination is often reflected in aggressive acts, threats, and fears. It’s a transit to mark on your annual planner. Below are the last three dates when Mars met Pluto in Capricorn. Click on the dates to see top news stories of the time.

Most likely, your life was calmer than the global news. I hope so! Still, review old calendars or journal entries for the week around past Mars-Pluto conjunctions. They were eventful, emotional times for me.

It’s likely to be a sobering week for many, revisiting painful relationship dynamics and vulnerabilities. Conjunctions of Venus-Pluto and the Lunar North Node-Chiron highlight the consequences of oppression, violence, and power imbalances.

If you’re into Valentine’s Day, this year is NOT great for flirting and casual dating. However, it could be fantastic for deep and raw intimacy between loving partners. Or you could dive into the Mars-Pluto darkness and watch dramatic action or horror films together. Aquarius bonus points if it features a techno-future gone awry!

Feb 18-28 with Feb 24 Full Moon

The Sun (Feb 18) and Mercury (Feb 23) dive into the deep pool of Pisces before Saturday’s Full Moon (Feb 24). You might think of this period as a “Saturn check-in.”

Saturn’s transit through your chart is always noticeable. It often begins with a loss, limitations or restrictions, and added responsibilities. Sometimes, it’s a situation where you voluntarily step back, taking on an outsider role.

Saturn entered Pisces in March 2023. What have you lost, left behind, or taken on in the last year? The story isn’t over and will continue to evolve while Saturn remains in Pisces until May 2025, then slips back from Sept 2025 to Feb 2026. Venus, Mars, and Pluto remain in Aquarius, and Venus meets up with Mars on Feb 22. That might be a spicy couple of days!

Still, the Sun, Mercury, Saturn, and Neptune in Pisces strongly influence the remainder of this short month. It builds to a crescendo on Feb 28 with a triple conjunction of Sun, Mercury, and Saturn at the 10th degree of Pisces. Here are some ideas to inspire you.

Turn suffering into art.
Get serious about fun.
Build compassion.
Invest in water.
Plan for flow.
Communicate with elders and ancestors.
Create systems of care.
Make your dreams real.

Looking forward

Venus and Mars move into Pisces in March, leaving Aquarius behind. Although February’s pace is quick, I encourage you to use this month to restore and recharge as you pursue your priorities. As we move into the spring eclipses, the external noise will increase.

Eclipse season begins with the March 10 New Moon and lasts through the May 23 Full Moon. Mercury will be retrograde in Aries most of April, and a Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in April may bring big surprises. Take advantage of the next four weeks while all planets are moving forward and conditions are (relatively) more stable.
