Your retrogradey suspension is over, and things are moving but not in new territory yet. Mercury remains in Capricorn until Feb 11, and Mars is still in Gemini all month (until Mar 25).
February Moves
February is off to a feisty start, culminating with the Full Moon in Leo on Feb 5. There are two spicy squares in play (Sun-Uranus and Venus-Mars), and I’ll talk a bit more about the Sun and Uranus later. It is a stimulating combo, and you may feel inspired or distracted and restless. Keep an eye out for people behaving unreliably.
Venus is in Pisces and this is usually a pleasurable, creative influence. (Great for artists!) However, the square to Mars brings classic erotic tension. There is a fine line between attraction and repulsion. Think hot vs. cold, sexy vs. crass, love vs. hate. Do you want it or not? Forward or reverse?
February 7 -13 is marked by Mercury’s approach to Pluto in the final degrees of Capricorn. Mercury-Pluto aspects affect our minds, exaggerating any tendency toward negative or paranoid thoughts, obsessive, compulsive patterns, and rumination. It is a good time to do research, investigate a matter, and solve complex problems.
Mid-month Mood
The mid-month mood changes, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Venus is snuggled up to idealistic Neptune in Pisces, and the Moon in Sagittarius is boosted by Jupiter. It can be a lovely day for taking a chance on romance, seeking beauty and connection, and acting on faith. But the Sun–Saturn conjunction adds a somber note, are you committed to this? Or is it time to face reality and let it go?
Frankly, these transits can amp up feelings of loneliness for some of us. If romance isn’t in your cards, I hope you will surround yourself with warmth. Pets, friends, family, your houseplants – anything that brings joy to your life Be kind to yourself. You are loveable, and you are loved.
Saturn-Uranus Redux
The biggest planetary moves this month are the Sun’s aspects to Saturn and Uranus, and that could reignite 2021-22 conflicts. Saturn represents tradition, authority, rules, and limits. Uranus is change, disruption, and rebellion. Not everyone will experience this personally, but news stories will reflect the conflict. If you have planets or important points in the fixed signs (Aquarius, Taurus, Scorpio, Leo) you may notice it in your own life.
The Sun in Aquarius squares Uranus in Taurus on Feb 3. This happens two days before that Feb 5 Full Moon, which also squares Uranus, see a theme? The Moon acts like a highlighter in the sky. Squares are an uncomfortable 90-degree angle, and when you’re uncomfortable, you wriggle and shift, trying to adjust. Uranus can make things REALLY uncomfortable.
Then the Sun passes over Saturn on Feb 16. When the Sun passes over a planet, it’s like an infusion of fresh fuel. Saturn is rejuvenated for his last few weeks in Aquarius. Here is a metaphor of how I see this transit.
A teacher (Sun) is challenged by a student breaking the norms and doing something weird (Uranus). It takes a few days to absorb what happened, but ultimately the teacher (Sun) re-establishes order and control in the classroom (Saturn).
Mercury follows the Sun with the same moves later, Feb 21 and Mar 2. Now you have meetings to talk about what happened, and paperwork to do. (Yes, I have been a teacher…)
On to Mardi Gras, and March!
The Sun leaves all this behind, moving into Pisces on Feb 18. Happy birthday to all my friends born in Pisces season!
Venus is also in the final degrees of Pisces, which can mean over-the-top indulgence. The weekend of Feb 18-19 is ripe for escapist pleasures. Do stay mindful of your surroundings and safety.
The New Moon in Pisces is Feb 20, and Mardi Gras is Feb 21. The aspects support flamboyant holiday gatherings. Venus is now with jubilant Jupiter in Aries, and the Mercury-Uranus square is great for imaginative floats, creative costumes. and quirky walking parades.
If you’re not in New Orleans, Mercury’s aspects in late February can be mentally stimulating, leading you to new insights and breakthrough ideas. The problems you investigated earlier this month can now be resolved. Avoid stimulants (caffeine, sugar, addictions to breaking news) and try to maintain a healthy sleep routine. March is going to be a BUSY month.

Golden Hours
A quick look at dates and times I’ve highlighted. All times are CST.
Feb 1 after 3 pm - Feb 2 all day
I like the waxing Moon in Cancer with aspects to Jupiter and Venus . Schedule a date night on Wednesday, or wake up early Thursday if you’re a morning person. Sweet, sensual vibes.
Feb 22
The Moon in Aries is waxing, and she will be surrounded with good vibes all day, plus there is a flowing aspect between Mercury and Mars. It’s a good day for action. Start a new project, plant seeds, or commit to a new habit.
Mar 1 Go ahead and mark this date! The Moon will be back in her comfortable Cancer home, in a waxing phase while Venus and Jupiter have their annual rendezvous. Another good day for action.
