The Solar Eclipse/New Moon in Aries on March 29 is like a New Moon on steroids, heralding the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new one. We have experienced eclipses across the Aries/Libra axis since April 2023, and this is the final one.  Whew!

A New Moon in Aries offers fresh, fiery energy that can be invigorating and challenging. Birth is messy and disruptive, even when it brings wonderful new beginnings.  The Sabian Symbol for this eclipse at 9° Aries is A Crystal Gazer – inviting us to access our penetrating insight and burning vision for the future.

  • What will you forge or create with this Aries fire energy?
  • Where do you feel called to be more decisive, bold, or visionary?

I decided to share some new work boldly! If you live in or love New Orleans, please check out the 2025 Spring Forecast. This is my first public foray into Mundane Astrology.

April 2025

At the beginning of the month, the major themes of March continue:

IT’S STILL RETROGRADEY – Venus and Mercury are moving backward, so it’s okay to mull things over, reconsider, and revise.  Both are direct by mid-April, and Mars is almost done retracing its path from November.

THE ERRATIC LIGHTING EASES – The last of four long Void Moons finishes on March 31, but the effects of eclipses  (March 14 and 29) linger.

  • What did you notice in these long void Moon periods?  Check your planner, journal, or messages for the following dates: March 10-12, 16-18, 25-27, and 30-31. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you’re willing to share.

STILL A HOT SPOT OF CONJUNCTIONS – Mercury, Venus, Saturn, and Neptune continue to congregate in the zone between 26° Pisces and 11° Aries.

The last week of April is one to watch after Mars enters Leo on April 17, and the Sun moves into Taurus on April 19.

March 29 - April 5

The New Moon/Solar Eclipse at 9° Aries occurs on March 29, when retrograde Mercury backs into Pisces conjunct Neptune. On March 30, Neptune enters the sign of Aries.  Neptune’s move is a big deal, but it’s going to be in Aries for years, so I’ll tell you more about it in May when Saturn follows.

The first few days of the month are fertile, with possibilities for creative inspiration and loving connections. If you can’t find the words, say them with music, poetry, or flowers.  You may be energetically sensitive and need more rest.

In the sky, Venus conjoins the North Node at 28° Pisces on April 1 – a second pass that may reconnect you with relationship issues or creative projects from late February. Mercury follows close behind Venus, crossing the North Node on Friday, April 4.  There is a Minor Grand Trine pattern between Mars in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces, with Mars and Saturn both sextile Uranus in Taurus.

April 6 - 12

Sunday's Sun-Jupiter sextile brings optimism and energy to your endeavors. It’s usually a feel-good transit. On the world stage, we may hear positive news from the judicial system or related to other Jupiterian topics, such as higher education and religion.

Mercury and Venus station direct in late Pisces, within days of each other (April 7 and 12), and are moving slowly at the Full Moon at 24° Libra on Saturday, April 12. Venus is critical to this full Moon because she is the ruler of Libra.  On April 12, she is changing direction, visible in the early morning sky near Saturn and Mercury in the constellation Pisces.

At the Full Moon, a serious negotiation is underway. Venus influences not only interpersonal relationships but also those between groups and nations. Venus-Saturn transits often signal serious commitment decisions, such as whether to stay or go. Mercury acts as a translator and messenger, representing business, trade, and transportation interests.

This Full Moon is likely to be important politically and economically. In your personal life, you may be ready to resolve any injustices.

April 13 - 19

Mercury enters Aries on Wednesday, April 16, immediately meeting Neptune (AGAIN) at 1° Aries. Expect heightened intuition but also potential confusion.

Mars enters Leo on Thursday, bringing more courage, creativity, and drama to our actions. People with late Cancer and Capricorn placements may want to celebrate. This move marks the end of Mars’ long sojourn in the sign of Cancer.  There won’t be another Mars retrograde in Cancer until 2039!

Saturday, April 19, features Mars trine Neptune, blending action with inspiration, while the Sun ingresses into Taurus, shifting focus toward stability and resources.

April 20 - 27

The week begins with multiple aspects on April 20: Venus sextiles Uranus, Mercury sextiles Pluto, and the Sun squares Mars. The Venus and Mercury aspects can be inspiring and shift one’s perspective.  The Sun square Mars aspect is only one part of a larger pattern to be aware of.

  1. After the Sun enters Taurus, a challenging T-square pattern develops between the Sun, Mars, and Pluto.
  2. The Sun-Mars square, Sun-Pluto square, and Mars-Pluto opposition perfect during the Moon’s last quarter phase this week.  This is the lunar cycle that started with a Solar Eclipse.
  3. The March 29 Solar Eclipse degree is triggered on April 25, when Mercury and the Moon cross 9° Aries.

This combination suggests an intense drive toward completion, with the potential to push too hard and cause collateral damage. It can be incredibly productive or destructive.  In the news, I expect stories of violence, military actions, flaring tempers, accidents, or disasters, especially resulting from long-simmering pressures. On a personal basis, it can be suitable for hard work and physical effort, for breaking down or breaking through on a project.

The lunar cycle concludes with a New Moon at 8° Taurus on Sunday, April 27, offering a fresh start with earthy, practical energy.  The final major transit is Venus’ re-entry to Aries, re-energized, on Wednesday, April 30.

Mindful Navigation

The intense planetary alignments this month call for mindful navigation.  Here are some suggestions to consider:

  1. Give the Aries energy an outlet through physical effort, hard work, or exercise.
  2. Be aware that those around you may be more easily activated and prone to short tempers. Everyone is going through a lot.
  3. Create small pockets of structure and certainty with simple daily rituals.
  4. Practice conscious disengagement from inflammatory content (like the news and social media)
  5. Work with elemental balancing. If fiery energy feels overwhelming, incorporate water elements (such as flowing movement, hydration, and emotional release) and earth-based practices (like grounding and spending time in nature).
  6. Cultivate a "witness perspective" – observe charged emotions without reacting to them immediately.

Remember that challenging times often reveal surprising connections and resources we wouldn't have discovered otherwise.
