April starts with a New Moon in Aries, a strong, assertive, and action-oriented place. It’s time to make choices and dive into new beginnings. Mercury is conjunct the New Moon, so our wills and words take on extra courage and force. You will find it easier to take risks, experiment, and test boundaries — but so will everyone else. Temperatures rise.
We are in the final weeks when all the planets in our solar system are fast and forward in motion. Pluto will turn retrograde at the end of the month and Mercury on May 10th. Their motion correlates with our ability to make forward progress, so it’s time to act. Plant the seeds of your desired future. Let go of what no longer suits you, and make a big move toward your new dreams.

Mars-Saturn Conjunction in Aries
The first week of the month may be rough as Mars, the headstrong ruler of Aries, collides with a cool, cautious Saturn in Aquarius. The exact date of the Mars-Saturn conjunction is April 4th, but the pressure is already building and will take a few days to subside. Pay attention to warning signals and be mindful of your surroundings and your energy.
Jupiter-Neptune Conjunction in Pisces
Once Mars moves past Saturn’s speed bump, we will feel a palpable relief and cooling. Venus enters Pisces on April 5th, joining Jupiter and Neptune. The Pisces part of your chart will demand attention as Venus (planet of love, beauty, creativity, and relationships) mingles with the transformative Jupiter-Neptune conjunction on April 12. After the two giants meet, Venus will hug Neptune on April 27 and then Jupiter on April 30. These latter days of April have tremendous power to bring healing, hope, and compassion to our lives.
Ancient astrologers classified Venus and Jupiter as “benefic” planets. Their influence on our lives often brings ease, abundance, and pleasure. This gives me HOPE for personal and world events. But all planets, like people, have a dark side. The pleasant passions of Venus can turn to jealousy, obsessiveness, or laziness. The growth and expansiveness of Jupiter can turn to excess and entitlement.
Neptune was discovered in 1846, so there are no ancient references. Like the Roman god Poseidon, Neptune rules the seas and earthquakes. Powerful forces of earth and water are life-giving but also shift borders, create natural disasters, and cause large migrations of people. Add Jupiter to the mix and we may well see extreme events of this nature, which would be consistent with recent trends.
In the behavioral and psychological realms, Neptune is associated with idealism, romance, fantasy, empathy, bliss, and a sense of divine connectedness. The dark side of Neptune can include disillusionment, deception, escapism, confusion, and intoxication.

Sensitivity is likely to be increased to foods, drugs, emotions, and environmental substances. Monitor your exposures. Watch your diet. Avoid intoxicants. Apply spiritual or energetic practices to cleanse, ground, or protect yourself.
Misinformation and disinformation are likely, so use discernment. Check the facts, and keep a healthy sense of skepticism about everything you read or hear. When in doubt, just don’t share or act on questionable information.
Do indulge yourself with healthy choices, music, poetry, and films. Read fantasy and romance. Express your emotions through art or dance. Immerse yourself in the natural world. Spend time in a garden or near large bodies of water. Celebrate the awe of the natural world.
Some dates to note:
April 3 - 5 Be very, very careful. Wear the seatbelt—and the helmet.
April 13 - 14 In the words of Mary Oliver, “What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” The Virgo Moon loves to plan. Make a list and start checking it off.
April 18 Post Full Moon hangover. Power plays and ego clashes likely. Just take Monday off.
April 27 Communicate your needs and desires, compassionate support is on tap.
The month of April ends in a crescendo, marked by the Venus-Jupiter conjunction in Pisces, and a Solar Eclipse. Eclipses always come in pairs, so we will experience the solar version on April 30 with the New Moon cycle and then the Lunar Eclipse on May 14. Eclipses often bring dramatic shifts into or out of our lives.
If your birth chart has planets or important points in the fixed signs of Taurus or Scorpio, this year’s eclipses are more likely to impact you. Need some help interpreting it all? Book a session.
